our story

The story of Elephant Point is one of vision, passion, and purpose. Born from Legacy Group's passion for extraordinary places, the reserve has evolved over more than two decades.

The name "Elephant Point" pays homage to the large herds of elephant that frequent the Sabie River, gathering along its banks to drink, graze, and move in quiet procession along the landscape.

built from a love of this land

Following the securing of a land lease in partnership with the Belfast community and the Ministry of Land Affairs, a singular ambition took shape - to create a flagship safari destination that exists in perfect harmony with the Kruger National Park and the greater Sabi Sands ecosystem, where wildlife roams freely across unfenced borders.

Beyond its architectural and experiential significance, the development has had meaningful socio-economic impact, creating over 1,000 jobs during construction, and a further 300 permanent roles on the reserve, the majority of which benefit the local community.

The established Elephant Point Safari Villas - privately owned, architecturally unique residences, offering a premium self-catering option ideal for families and groups seeking space, privacy and independence. Alongside this, the newly developed Elephant Point River Suites introduces a fully serviced, villa-style hotel experience, redefining luxury through attentive hospitality and curated guest journeys.

Named after the famed Magnificent Seven elephant bulls of Kruger from the 80s whose tusks now rest at Letaba Rest Camp, the 42 suites range in size from 188sqm to 400sqm, and guests may choose a river-facing elevated suite or a single level sand river and waterhole facing suite.

All suites offer the same luxury amenities and facilities, including a day room/study for remote work and added relaxation

The Paul Kruger Gate is just 8 minutes from your door, opening into one of Africa's greatest wildlife sanctuaries. Head out before dawn in an open vehicle, your ranger reading the bush as the light changes. Lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino all move through this corridor. Return to your villa as the day warms, pool waiting, the morning's sightings still fresh.

the rhythm of a day

There is no prescribed schedule at Elephant Point. No wake-up calls, no fixed itinerary, no sense that you are moving through someone else's plan. The rhythm here is set by the bush, and you follow it at your own pace.

Rise before first light if the pull of the wild is strong. Your ranger meets you at the villa and within eight minutes you are through the Paul Kruger Gate, deep into one of Africa's greatest national parks as the darkness begins to lift and the animals start to move. Lion on a kill. A breeding herd of elephant crossing the road. The Kruger at dawn is unlike anywhere else on earth.

Return as the day warms and the bush goes quiet. Your private pool is waiting, the deck chairs angled toward the river. Impala pick their way along the far bank. A fish eagle calls from somewhere upstream. Pour something cold and let the afternoon take care of itself.

As the sun drops and the light turns gold, the estate comes alive again. Elephants move to the water. Hippos surface in the shallows. Gather at your boma as the fire takes hold and the stars begin to appear over the Sabie. More stars than you will have seen in a long time, in a sky with nothing to compete with them.
